Wine background
Although simply labelled Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine usually contains a dash of Merlot and/or Cabernet Franc. Usually two-thirds come from Coonawarra and one-third from McLaren Vale; the wine is aged in American oak puncheons for over two years before bottling. The 1989 won two gold, six silver and 20 bronze medals in Australian shows; the '90, too, has enjoyed considerable show success. |

James Halliday Oct 01 1994 Rating: 83 out of 100 |
Light red; now fully developed in terms of both bouquet and palate, but will no doubt hold its form for some time yet. There is an interesting combination of aromas and flavours ranging from leafy berry through to sweet vanilla, due to the combination of relatively early-picked fruit and sweet American oak. |
