Australian wine regions
Australia is a large country - Margaret River is further from the Hunter Valley than Jerez in Spain is from Tokaji in Hungary - so, despite the distinctive national approach to wine, Australian wines are not all the same. The wines of Margaret River and of the Hunter Valley differ as much as sherry and tokay do. The three most important wine-producing states are South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales. As well as bulk production, they each have specific premium wine regions.

Wine background
A blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from many vintages, the older vintages being used as Reserve wines. It spends 22 months on lees, and is disgorged progressively to meet demand. An individual but very successful style. | |
| James Halliday Oct 16 2002 Rating: 94 out of 100 | The comparison with Bollinger is inevitable. Both wines have a somewhat unorthodox, aldehyde-based background to their immense complexity, and both polarise opinion. Medium to full straw-gold, the very complex bouquet has abundant, spicy, bready, biscuity aromas, the rich palate providing more and more of the same. |
