Australian wine regions
Australia is a large country - Margaret River is further from the Hunter Valley than Jerez in Spain is from Tokaji in Hungary - so, despite the distinctive national approach to wine, Australian wines are not all the same. The wines of Margaret River and of the Hunter Valley differ as much as sherry and tokay do. The three most important wine-producing states are South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales. As well as bulk production, they each have specific premium wine regions.

Wine background
First made in 1976, it is sourced from premium areas across South Australia (not including the Riverland) from a varying blend, with the Cabernet component usually ranging between 30 per cent and 40 per cent, but with a high of 48 per cent and a low of five per cent according to vintage. It is matured in real oak (no chips) and is not batch-bottled. Outstanding value for money, its integrity protected by the introduction at a lower price point of Rawson's Retreat. | |
